Simba SC have confirmed that midfielder Libasse Geye has completed his CAF suspension following a red card and is eligible to return to the squad for the second-leg CAF Champions League match against Mighty Wanderers.
Speaking to the media, Simba Head of Information and Communications Ahmed Ally said Libasse completed his suspension after missing two CAF Champions League matches, while defender Shomari Kapombe still has a suspension to serve.
Libasse was shown a red card after the match against Petro de Luanda played on February 7, 2026, in Angola, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Ahmed explained that the incident occurred after the final whistle, unlike Kapombe’s case, where the defender was sent off while the match was still in progress.
According to Ahmed, the incident that led to the red card also involved Simba player Alassane Kante, but the officials took disciplinary action against Libasse.
As a result of the suspension, Libasse missed two CAF Champions League matches: against Stade Malien in the 2025/26 season and against Mighty Wanderers in the first leg of the 2026/27 preliminary round.
Libasse’s return gives Simba another important option in midfield as the team prepares for the second leg against Mighty Wanderers.
Meanwhile, Kapombe, who is also recovering from an injury, has yet to complete his three-match suspension and will therefore miss the match against Mighty Wanderers.
