Simba SC attacking midfielder Libasse Gueye has fired up his teammates ahead of their opening CAF Champions League clash against Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers, despite being unavailable for today’s match, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. East Africa Time.
Gueye said Simba’s strong run in the NBC Premier League, including five consecutive victories, has boosted the squad’s strength, morale and confidence as they prepare to begin their international campaign.
Gueye said those positive results have been an important part of Simba’s preparations ahead of their meeting with Mighty Wanderers, while expressing his belief that his teammates are capable of carrying that momentum into the continental competition.
“Winning five consecutive matches has given us more strength and confidence. We are going into this game with great morale and ready to fight,” Gueye stressed.
Gueye will miss today’s match as he serves a suspension resulting from the red card he received last season during the group-stage match against Angola’s Petro Atlético.
His absence is a blow to Simba, but his message has added motivation within the squad, as he urged his teammates to use the opportunity to demonstrate their quality on the international stage.
