Simba midfielder Ibrahim Jabaar has completed his suspension following the red card he received in the league match against Pamba Jiji earlier this month at CCM Kirumba, where Simba won 2-1.
Jabaar will be eligible to return to the squad for Simba’s next league match against Azam FC on September 9.
However, before that game, Jabaar is expected to make his return in the CAF Champions League match against Mighty Wanderers on Sunday, September 6, at Bingu National Stadium in Malawi.
Throughout his suspension, Simba head coach Steve Barker continued preparing the midfielder for the Champions League fixture, given that his domestic suspension does not apply to CAF competitions.
Barker, who has guided Simba to five consecutive victories in the NBC Premier League this season, said he has spoken to Jabaar and other players who were sent off in the club’s opening three league matches.
“Jabaar is finishing his suspension, and at any time we will have him back. The important thing is that he has grown mentally from what happened. He knew he had made a mistake, and I know he is not someone with a history of disciplinary problems,” said Barker.
“I told him that because of his name and the size of the club he represents, there will be times when opponents may try to provoke him into making mistakes like that. If he reacts, he can fall into the trap. So he must not do it again, and he understands that,” Barker added.
Other Simba players, David Kameta ‘Duchu’ and Anthony Mligo, have also completed their suspensions and will be available for the match against Azam FC.
Duchu returned in the previous match against Coastal Union but picked up an injury that ruled him out of the game against Geita Gold.
