Despite winning both of their matches at their new home ground, Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, Simba head coach Steve Barker has expressed his dissatisfaction with the condition of the pitch.
Simba had initially chosen to use Uhuru Stadium this season but later decided to move to Isamuhyo because renovations at Uhuru Stadium had not yet been fully completed.
Simba have scored three goals in their two matches at Isamuhyo, beating Coastal Union 1-0 before defeating Geita Gold 2-0 yesterday.
Speaking after the match, Barker made it clear that the condition of the Isamuhyo pitch had prevented his players from scoring more goals.
"I think we played well. We controlled the game and kept our opponents under control in all the important areas."
"We created many chances, but I also think the condition of the pitch affected our efficiency."
"If we had played on a pitch with a better playing surface, perhaps we would have scored more goals. But overall, I am pleased with what we achieved. We have won five matches in a row and have also kept clean sheets in our last two games," Barker said.
Barker's comments could be viewed as a message to Simba's leadership about his dissatisfaction with the Isamuhyo pitch.
More importantly, Simba's management may now need to put in place a strategy to ensure the club develops its own stadium as soon as possible, avoiding the challenges of having to play at venues that do not fully meet the technical requirements of the coaching staff.
