As the CAF Champions League preliminary-round clash between Mighty Wanderers and Simba draws closer, excitement is building among Simba fans in Mbeya ahead of the first-leg encounter in Malawi.
Fans from the neighbouring region are preparing to travel in large numbers to Lilongwe to support their team in the first leg of the preliminary round, scheduled for September 6, 2026, at Bingu Stadium.
Preparations for the trip have reached an advanced stage, with five buses expected to transport approximately 150 fans from Mbeya to Malawi.
Simba Executive Committee member Yusuph Mwandete said the team's strong start to the Premier League season has increased confidence and excitement among supporters, prompting them to become part of the club's international campaign.
Simba have opened the 2026/27 season strongly, winning their first four league matches against Kagera Sugar, Pamba Jiji, Singida Black Stars and Coastal Union.
The supporters are also embarking on the trip with fond memories of Simba's previous visit to Malawi. In 2022, the Msimbazi Reds secured a 2-0 victory over Nyasa Big Bullets in an African Champions League match played at Bingu Stadium.
Simba are now returning to Malawi, but this time they will face Mighty Wanderers, the champions of the country's league last season.
