The debate has intensified following his recent performances, with Doumbia appearing to struggle to match Simba's tempo whenever he has been given an opportunity.
However, sources within the technical bench say Simba head coach Steve Barker has held a private meeting with the striker.
Barker has reportedly urged Doumbia to work on his weaknesses while continuing to give him opportunities in selected matches, believing that regular playing time will help him adapt and potentially start finding the back of the net.
In one of his interviews, Barker said the striker is still struggling with the unfamiliarity of the league and needs more time to adapt to Simba's style of play.
Doumbia finished last season as the top scorer in Mali's Premier League while playing for AS Korofina. At the club, he was the team's main striker in a system that relied heavily on wingers delivering crosses for him to attack with his head.
Simba, however, operate differently, with their wingers often cutting inside and creating chances through tighter areas. The team prefers to play the ball on the ground and crosses are used less frequently.
That system appears to be challenging for Doumbia, who also needs to drop deeper at times to receive the ball and help create chances rather than spending most of his time inside the box waiting for crosses.
In recent matches, Barker has continued to use Elie Mpanzu as a false nine, while Doumbia has generally been introduced in the second half.
