Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has expressed his frustration over the growing number of red cards affecting his squad, stressing that the players need to assess these incidents and ensure they do not continue.
Barker's comments came after Simba's 2-1 Premier League victory over Singida BS in a match played at Airtel Stadium in Singida.
In that match, defender Anthony Mligo was sent off with a red card late in the game. It was Simba's third red card of the season, with the team finishing every match this season with a numerical disadvantage.
The other players who have received red cards are David Kameta 'Duchu' against Kagera Sugar and Ibrahim Jaaber against Pamba Jiji.
Speaking about the situation, Barker admitted that receiving consecutive red cards puts the team in a difficult tactical position and adds unnecessary pressure.
"When we make mistakes that cost the team and leave us playing with fewer players, we put a huge burden on ourselves and create unnecessary pressure. It is something we need to look at carefully, and the players need to remain calm when making decisions on the pitch," Barker said.
Despite the challenge, Simba SC have made a strong start to the season, collecting nine points from their opening three away matches, a run that has placed them at the top of the league standings.
