Simba Board of Directors Chairman Crescentius Magori says the club has not been shaken by their traditional rivals Yanga signing striker Suleiman Mwalimu, who had initially been announced as a Simba player.
Magori said the development did not surprise them because they were not satisfied with the amount of money they were required to pay Wydad CA to sign the player on loan.
“It is a very minor matter, and there is absolutely no panic on our side. Suleiman Mwalimu is not a player worth paying one billion shillings for a one-season loan,” Magori said.
Yanga are understood to have paid approximately TSh 500 million to sign Mwalimu on a one-season loan from Wydad CA after Simba failed to complete the payment on time, despite the player returning to Tanzania and joining Simba’s training camp in Zanzibar yesterday.
The total cost of signing the player, including his salary for the entire year and signing-on fee, is reportedly around TSh 1 billion.
