Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has made it clear that his side are determined to make a strong start to the 2026/27 season, promising victory over Yanga SC in Wednesday’s Community Shield clash on August 12.
Barker said Simba have prepared thoroughly for the match and that their main objective is to win the trophy and begin the new season on a positive note.
“Simba are a team of champions, and tomorrow we are going in with the aim of winning the trophy,” Barker said.
The coach said preparations have gone well and that his players are ready to face the challenge of a major fixture expected to be fiercely contested.
“We want to make a good start to the new 2026/27 season by winning the Community Shield,” Coach Barker said.
Barker acknowledged Yanga’s quality and said Simba have prepared with great focus to ensure they are in the best possible condition in every area required for the match.
He said their preparations have covered various areas, including technical, physical, mental, emotional and psychological aspects, stressing that they have paid attention to every important detail ahead of the encounter.
Meanwhile, Barker said Simba are building a culture of believing in victory, and that belief will guide them when they face their traditional rivals.
“Simba are a team that believes in winning,” Barker said, adding that he believes his squad will secure victory and restore joy to Simba fans, popularly known as the Wekundu wa Msimbazi.
