Simba Head of Information and Communications Ahmed Ali has urged the club’s fans not to be distracted by the events of last night, after Yanga announced the signing of striker Suleiman Mwalimu, just days after Simba had announced that they had completed his signing from Wydad AC.
Ahmed sympathised with Simba fans who were hurt by the incident but called on them to remain united and focus their energy on tomorrow’s Community Shield clash against Yanga at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar.
Ahmed said Simba’s objective is to win the Community Shield, a trophy they have missed out on for the past two seasons.
In a message posted on his social media account, Ahmed wrote:
“Many of us were thrown into confusion after seeing the striker who had been our player unveiled by another club.
“First, I would like to sympathise with Simba fans over this situation. I am not here to explain what happened. What is most important right now is that we focus our energy on tomorrow’s Community Shield match.
“There is nothing we need more than victory. We have missed out on the Community Shield for the past two seasons, and this is the right time to win this trophy, God willing.
“Let us direct our minds, thoughts, ideas and energy towards Amaan Stadium. This time, we must open the season by winning the Shield.
“We have inherited the love for our Simba, so let us continue fighting for our team tomorrow and bring happiness to everyone.”
