Zambian attacking midfielder and football maestro Clatous Chota Chama has officially announced his retirement from international football with the Zambia national team, Chipolopolo, nearly 11 years after making his debut.
Chama (35), who currently plays for Tanzanian club Simba SC, announced his decision today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, explaining that the time has come to give younger players an opportunity while focusing more on his club career.
The creative midfielder, widely known as "Triple C" or the "Lusaka Rock," ends his international career having made 44 appearances for Zambia and scored seven goals since his debut on November 6, 2015.
Speaking about his decision, the player thanked all the coaches who guided him, his teammates, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), and supporters for their continued support throughout his nearly decade-long national team career.
"It has been a great honour to wear the green and gold jersey. I believe this is the right time for me to step aside and allow talented young players in the country to get their opportunity, while I focus my remaining energy on club football," the midfielder said.
Chama represented Zambia in several major competitions, including Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the COSAFA Cup, and the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
