Simba SC will have to restart negotiations to sign striker Suleiman Mwalimu after the initial agreement between the club and Wydad AC collapsed.
Simba and Wydad had previously agreed on a one-year loan deal that would have seen the forward join the Msimbazi Reds. The agreement was reached during the tenure of former Wydad president Hicham Ait Menna.
However, the deal fell through after Simba failed to complete the agreed payment between the two clubs, despite having already announced Mwalimu as a new signing through its official social media platforms.
The collapse of the agreement reportedly created further uncertainty after Wydad's new leadership, led by the club's newly elected president, suspended the previous arrangement. Wydad later issued an official statement instructing Mwalimu to return to Casablanca and rejoin the squad.
Mwalimu has since returned to Dar es Salaam from Kigali and is continuing with individual training while awaiting a flight ticket to travel back to Casablanca and join Wydad for the club's pre-season preparations.
It is understood that if Simba still wishes to secure the striker's services, the club will have to reopen negotiations with Wydad. Reports also indicate that the new loan fee could exceed the US$50,000 that had been agreed upon under the original deal.
