The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the preliminary-round draws for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The event, which marks the start of the new African club football season, will be broadcast live from CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The draw will determine the preliminary-round opponents for all participating clubs as they begin their campaigns for a place in the group stage.
According to the schedule released by CAF's Competitions Department, the CAF Confederation Cup draw will begin at 2:00 p.m. East Africa Time (EAT), followed by the CAF Champions League draw at 3:00 p.m. EAT.
CAF has confirmed that, once the draw is completed, clubs will have less than a month to prepare before the preliminary-round first-leg matches, which are scheduled to be played between September 4 and 6, 2026.
Following the qualifying rounds, the group stage of both competitions is set to run from November 27, 2026, to January 23, 2027. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place between February and April 2027, while the finals of both tournaments are scheduled for May 2027.
Simba and Yanga will represent the country in the CAF Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida Black Stars will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
