After concluding their campaign in the CECAFA Kagame Cup, Simba SC have remained in Kigali, Rwanda, where they are continuing their pre-season preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Simba finished the group stage with a 2-1 victory over Singida Black Stars, but their five points were not enough to secure a place in the semi-finals. Head coach Steve Barker said the tournament provided the team with valuable competitive minutes and helped identify areas that still need improvement.
He explained that the squad has only been together for about one week, meaning there is still significant work to be done before the new season begins.
Barker said Simba will use the remaining days in Kigali to continue training and plans to play another friendly match before returning to Tanzania.
He added that the win over Singida Black Stars has boosted the team's confidence following two earlier draws, while he continues integrating the club's new signings into his playing system.
Simba are now preparing for Simba Day, the Community Shield clash against Yanga, and the start of the new NBC Premier League season.
