Simba secured a 2-1 victory over Singida BS in their final Group B match of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
After several missed opportunities in previous matches, new signing Ibrahim Doumbia finally opened his scoring account for the Msimbazi Reds. The striker headed home Libasse Gueye's cross in the first half to give Simba the lead.
Singida BS equalized early in the second half through Tegisi Mumanyi, but Elie Mpanzu sealed the victory for Simba by scoring the decisive second goal.
Mpanzu had only arrived in Rwanda earlier in the day after being delayed for several days due to Rwanda's immigration requirements.
Despite his late arrival, he needed only a few minutes to make an impact, scoring shortly after coming on as a substitute for Doumbia.
However, Simba's victory was not enough to secure a place in the semi-finals, as Jamus SC defeated Mogadishu City 2-1 in the other Group B fixture.
Simba finished second in Group B with five points, while Jamus SC topped the group with seven points. Singida BS ended the campaign in third place with three points.
With their CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign now over, Simba will turn their full attention to preparations for Simba Day.
