Following the completion of the second round of group-stage matches at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda, Simba now face an uphill battle to qualify for the semi-finals and must rely on the outcome of Friday's final round of group matches.
Simba currently sit third in Group B with two points, behind Singida BS on three points and Jamus SC on four.
If the Msimbazi Reds defeat Singida BS, they will move up to five points, which could be enough to secure a place in the semi-finals, provided Jamus SC lose their match against Mogadishu City.
Only the team that finishes top of Group B will qualify for the semi-finals, as there is no place for the best second-placed team. Teams in the other groups have already collected six points, making it impossible for a runner-up from Group B to advance.
However, Simba's result in the tournament is not expected to affect the club's broader plans, as the CECAFA Kagame Cup is being used primarily as part of the team's pre-season preparations.
If Simba are eliminated early, the club will simply shift its full focus to preparing for the annual Simba Day celebrations and the Community Shield clash against rivals Yanga, scheduled for August 12.
