Simba SC have given their full approval for promising 17-year-old central defender Hussein Ally Mbegu to travel to Czechia for a two-week trial with Czech champions SK Slavia Prague.
The highly rated youngster, who impressed with Tanzania’s U-17 national team, the Serengeti Boys, is currently in the final stages of securing his visa before flying to Europe to pursue the opportunity.
Initially, the Czech club requested a three-month trial for the defender. However, Simba SC rejected that proposal and agreed to release the player for only 14 days, covering on-field assessments and medical examinations in order to protect the youngster.
Sources within Simba have revealed that if Mbegu successfully passes the trial and the transfer is completed, the Msimbazi club will include a sell-on clause in the agreement.
The strategy mirrors the one Simba used years ago when striker Mbwana Samatta was transferred to TP Mazembe, allowing the Tanzanian club to continue benefiting financially whenever Samatta moved to another club in Europe.
Mbegu is regarded as one of Tanzania’s brightest young central defenders. He made history by becoming the youngest player ever to feature in both the NBC Premier League and the Muungano Cup at just 15 years of age.
Simba’s management has emphasized that if the transfer does not materialize, the defender remains firmly in the club’s first-team plans for the upcoming season.
