Simba SC began their CECAFA Kagame Cup Group B campaign with a 0-0 draw against Mogadishu City in their opening match.
Head coach Steve Barker named a starting lineup featuring several of the club's new signings. Simba controlled possession for much of the game, but Mogadishu City's defense remained disciplined, spending long periods with numbers behind the ball to frustrate the Tanzanian side.
Simba intensified their attacking efforts in the final 15 minutes after Barker introduced Clatous Chama, Shomari Kapombe, Anicet Oura, Keletso Makgalwa, Ibrahim Doumbia, and Ibraheem Jabaar from the bench.
Doumbia came close to scoring in the closing stages, while Makgalwa created another late opportunity. However, Mogadishu City stood firm once again to clear the danger and preserve the clean sheet.
Following today's Group B results, Jamus FC top the standings with three points after defeating Singida Black Stars 2-0 earlier in the day. Simba and Mogadishu City each have one point.
Simba's next Group B fixture will be against Jamus FC on Tuesday, July 28.
