Record East and Central African champions Simba SC will kick off their CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign today when they face Mogadishu City at Pele Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, in their opening Group B match.
After missing the regional tournament for the past eight seasons, the Msimbazi Reds have officially returned with one clear objective—to win a record-extending seventh CECAFA Kagame Cup title and reaffirm their dominance in the competition.
Simba have spent the last two days preparing in Rwanda and will be looking to build on the momentum from last season, when they lifted the CRDB Bank Federation Cup.
There is more good news for Simba supporters, as the club has traveled with a full-strength squad, giving fans the opportunity to see several of the team's new signings in action.
New striker Ibrahim Doumbia arrived in Rwanda yesterday following his official unveiling, while winger Libasse Gueye has also joined the squad after receiving permission from the club to remain behind temporarily to care for his ill mother.
The match against Mogadishu City is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m. local time.
