Simba SC today unveiled the signing of 22-year-old striker Ibrahim Doumbia from Malian club AS Korofina.
He becomes the first foreign player to be officially announced by the club during this transfer window, with Simba having already introduced three local signings — Kelvin Nashon, Nathaniel Chilambo, and Bakari Msimu — bringing the total number of unveiled players to four.
Simba's Information and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ali, said the club's focus during this transfer window has been on making improvements in areas that were identified as weaknesses, meaning there will not be a large number of new signings like in previous seasons.
However, Ahmed confirmed that the recruitment process is not yet complete, revealing that more foreign "big names" are still waiting to be unveiled.
Among the players Simba fans are eagerly waiting to see announced is Nigerian creative midfielder Ibraheem Jabaar from Stellenbosch FC.
It is reported that Simba completed Jabaar's signing at the end of June following a recommendation from head coach Steve Barker.
The signing of winger Keletso Makgalwa from Sekhukhune United is also said to have been finalized.
Makgalwa is currently with Simba's squad in Rwanda and could be unveiled soon before the club takes on Mogadishu City at Kigali's Pele Stadium tomorrow in their opening Group B match of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Ivory Coast centre-back Serge Badjo, who joins from Algerian club USM Khenchela, is also among the players linked with a move to Msimbazi.
Simba are also expected to use some players in the CECAFA Kagame Cup as part of their assessment process before deciding whether to complete their signings.
Botswana attacking midfielder Mothusi Cooper is among those being considered for this opportunity, alongside defensive midfielder Mohamed Sangare from Malian club Real Bamako.
