Simba SC continued reshaping their squad for the 2026/27 season by officially announcing the departure of seven players, including goalkeeper Moussa Camara.
Camara, who earned a reputation for his commanding presence and impressive shot-stopping ability, leaves the Msimbazi club as a free agent after the expiry of his contract.
Sources have confirmed that the Guinean goalkeeper is in the final stages of completing a move to a French second-division club.
The 27-year-old spent a significant part of last season sidelined with a knee injury, which kept him out of action for an extended period.
His injury prompted Simba to sign Niger international goalkeeper Mohamed Tanja Kassali, and reports indicate that the club has now decided to extend Kassali's stay after his initial six-month contract expired.
Players Released by Simba
In addition to Camara, Simba confirmed that six other players will not be part of the club's plans for the upcoming season.
The departing players are:
- Chamou Karaboue (Defender) – reportedly linked with a move to Iraq.
- Naby Camara (Midfielder) – whose contract has expired.
- Joshua Mutale (Zambian Winger).
- Edwin Balua (Winger).
- Awesu Awesu (Midfielder).
- Omari Omari (Midfielder).
The decision by Simba's technical bench, led by new head coach Steve Barker, to approve Camara's departure was also influenced by the impressive form and reliability of Kassali.
Kassali, who joined Simba during the January transfer window, has secured his place in the squad thanks to his consistent performances, discipline, and dependable goalkeeping while Camara was recovering from injury.
Coach Barker is reportedly impressed with Kassali's performances and believes there is no immediate need for Simba to sign another foreign goalkeeper.
