Simba SC Honorary President and businessman Mohamed Dewji ("Mo") has met with the club's head coach, Steve Barker, in South Africa.
According to reports, the meeting was held to congratulate Barker on his impressive work last season, during which he guided Simba to the CRDB Federation Cup title—the club's first major trophy in four years.
Mo also used the meeting to receive recommendations from the technical bench and align the club's plans ahead of the 2026/27 season.
"They had a productive meeting, and one of the first requests from coach Barker was to continue working with the same technical staff he had last season, including assistant coach Suleiman Matola, team manager Patrick Rweyemamu, and team coordinator Abbas Ally, whose contracts were due to expire at the end of this month. Mo instructed that they be offered new contracts."
"In addition to discussing the technical staff, they also reviewed the club's transfer plans. Mo urged Barker to work closely with the club's leadership to ensure Simba recruit a strong squad capable of competing successfully in both continental and domestic competitions," the source was quoted as saying by Mwanaspoti.
Further reports indicate that while in South Africa, Dewji finalized the signing of Sekhukhune United's key attacking midfielder, Keletso Makgalwa (29).
Barker recommended the signing of the versatile attacker as part of his plans to strengthen Simba's attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Makgalwa is among the new arrivals awaiting official unveiling at Msimbazi, and Simba supporters could get their first glimpse of him during the CECAFA Kagame Cup, which is scheduled to begin on July 24 in Rwanda.
