Simba head coach Steve Barker is reportedly not yet finished reshaping his squad, with the South African tactician looking to add more quality to the midfield ahead of the new season.
Although Simba have already signed local defensive midfielder Kelvin Nashon, the Msimbazi-based club is expected to recruit an additional foreign player for the position.
According to reports from multiple sources, Simba are in talks with Nigerian midfielder Oluwatobiloba Alagbe.
Alagbe most recently played for Greek Super League side Asteras Tripolis and is currently a free agent after the expiry of his contract.
Standing at 1.87 metres (6 ft 2 in) and renowned for his ability to read the game, Alagbe leaves Asteras Tripolis after a successful spell that began when he joined the club from Nigeria in 2019.
Successful spells in Greece and Luxembourg
During his seven years in Greece, Alagbe made 89 league appearances and scored four goals, earning a reputation as a dependable presence in both defensive midfield and central defence.
To gain further experience, Asteras Tripolis loaned him to Luxembourg, where he played for Jeunesse Esch during the 2021/22 season, scoring once in 18 appearances, before joining Progrès Niederkorn, where he made 11 appearances and scored twice.
In the recently concluded 2025/26 season, Alagbe remained a key figure for Asteras Tripolis, playing 1,660 minutes and scoring one goal while demonstrating considerable maturity and consistency.
Although naturally a defensive midfielder, Alagbe is also capable of playing as a centre-back, meaning Simba could strengthen two positions with a single signing if the deal is completed.
In addition to Alagbe, Simba are also reported to be monitoring the availability of 27-year-old Malian defensive midfielder Mohamed Sangare of Real Bamako, as well as Alphonce Mabula, who is currently a free agent after the expiration of his contract with his former club in Azerbaijan.
