Simba SC is set to report to camp on July 18, 2026, to begin official preparations for the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will be held in Rwanda from July 24 to August 8.
The club will use the regional tournament as its pre-season campaign ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the Msimbazi Reds aiming to end their trophy drought after several seasons without major silverware.
Simba has been drawn in Group B alongside fellow Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars, Jamus FC of South Sudan, and Mogadishu City Club of Somalia.
The draw was conducted by former Simba and Yanga midfielder Haruna Niyonzima. The other groups are as follows:

- Al Hilal (Sudan)
- Rayon Sports (Rwanda)
- Tusker FC (Kenya)

Simba will enter the tournament with the objective of delivering a strong performance while building a competitive squad ahead of the 2026/27 Tanzania Premier League season and continental competitions.
