Following today's CECAFA Kagame Cup group-stage draw, Simba SC is expected to travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to take part in the tournament, which will run from July 24 to August 7, 2026.
With limited time available for pre-season preparations, Simba will use the competition as part of its build-up for the upcoming campaign.
The decision is seen as a strategic move by the club's technical bench, which will have the opportunity to give new signings valuable playing time, test different tactical systems, and build squad chemistry in a highly competitive environment before the new season begins.
Unlike most pre-season friendly matches, the CECAFA Kagame Cup will allow Simba to measure its strength against some of the top clubs from East and Central Africa, helping the coaching staff identify areas that require improvement ahead of the official campaign.
After completing its participation in Rwanda, Simba will return to Tanzania for the Community Shield clash against arch-rivals Yanga on August 12, 2026.
The match is expected to serve as the final test for the Msimbazi Reds before the 2026/27 Tanzania Premier League season officially gets underway on August 14, 2026.
