The season has ended and Simba SC management is already working to finalize transfer business, with Board Chairman Crescentius Magori stating that the club has no time to waste as they aim to complete recruitment before the squad returns for pre-season.
So far, Simba appear to have largely completed their domestic signings, with most of the groundwork having been laid months in advance.
The main focus in this transfer window is expected to be strengthening the foreign player contingent. Reports suggest that between five and six new foreign players could be signed, while a similar number are likely to leave the club.
Goalkeepers Mohamed Kassali and Moussa Camara are both expected to depart and will not be part of Simba’s squad next season. The club is also expected to sign a new foreign goalkeeper.
Midfielders Naby Camara and Alassane Kanté are also not expected to remain at the club for the upcoming campaign.
Striker Jonathan Sowah’s future had already been decided earlier, while winger Mohamed Bajaber is also expected to leave on loan.
Internal reports indicate that midfielder Neo Maema was initially placed on the list of players set to be released during this transfer window. However, head coach Steve Barker is said to have requested to keep him after being impressed with his performances.
Maema’s loan spell at Simba has officially ended, and with his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns also expired, the Tanzanian club would need to sign him as a free agent if they wish to retain him.
Maema has confirmed that no formal contract talks have yet begun, though he remains hopeful that discussions could take place in the coming days.
The midfielder has expressed his satisfaction with his time at Simba this season and is open to continuing with the club for a longer period if an agreement is reached.
