Simba SC defensive midfielder Yusuf Kagoma has won his first Man of the Match award of the season after delivering an outstanding performance in their 3-0 Mainland Premier League victory over Mtibwa Sugar.
It is rare for a player in his position to receive such an award, which is often given to goal scorers or assist providers.
Kagoma expressed his joy after receiving the award and dedicated it to attacking midfielder Ladark Chasambi, saying he had long wished to see him earn such recognition for his efforts on the pitch.
"I dedicate this award to my friend Chasambi. Every time I play a match, he tells me he wishes to see me win Man of the Match. Now that I have it, I want to tell him it is special for him because he always wanted to see this happen," Kagoma said.
This season, Kagoma has become a key figure in Simbaβs midfield, bringing stability to an area that has troubled the club for a long time.
Due to his impressive performances, Simba have already extended his contract by two years, keeping him at the club until 2028.
