Simba striker Suleiman Mwalimu scored his ninth league goal of the season yesterday in the team's 3-0 victory over Mtibwa Sugar.
The win kept Simba firmly in the NBC Premier League title race as they continue to chase league leaders Yanga.
The goal made Mwalimu Simba's leading scorer this season, although he remains five goals behind league top scorers Feisal Salum and Ndumumwe Mossi, who currently lead the Golden Boot standings.
Since the arrival of head coach Steve Barker, Mwalimu has frequently been deployed as an impact substitute, often entering matches in the second half and making an immediate difference.
In one of his previous interviews, Barker revealed that using Mwalimu as a "super sub" is a deliberate tactical strategy.
The Simba coach explained that Mwalimu benefits from entering the game later, as he has already observed the flow of the match and can exploit weaknesses that have emerged in the opposition's defense.
Mwalimu is currently on loan at Simba from Moroccan club Wydad AC, and reports suggest that the Tanzanian giants have already opened discussions with his parent club regarding an extension of his loan deal for another season.
However, Wydad are believed to be reluctant to part with the striker permanently, as they still consider him part of their long-term plans.
