Simba SC are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Zimbabwean goalkeeper Nelson Chadya, who currently plays for Scottland FC in Zimbabwe.
The Tanzanian giants are said to be planning significant changes in the goalkeeping department, with the contracts of current goalkeepers Djibril Kassaly, Moussa Camara, and Hussein Abel all nearing expiration.
Sources within the club indicate that improvements are expected in the goalkeeping position, and it would not be surprising if Simba sign two new goalkeepers—one foreign and one local—ahead of next season.
Chadya has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Scottland FC. In 20 league appearances, he has recorded 14 clean sheets and played a key role in helping his club maintain its position at the top of the Zimbabwean league table.
“We are continuing the process of searching for another goalkeeper. We have given it a lot of thought and believe we need to bring in another keeper. Discussions are ongoing, but no one has been signed yet.”
“We want a goalkeeper who can give us confidence that our goal is secure. We are also evaluating local goalkeepers, so anything can happen in that position at the end of the season,” a club source was quoted as saying by Mwanaspoti.
First-choice goalkeeper Djibril Kassaly is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, while Moussa Camara is also approaching the end of his contract and has been linked with a move to France.
Meanwhile, another Simba goalkeeper, Yacoub Suleiman, recently underwent knee surgery and is expected to be sidelined for approximately ten weeks or more, further highlighting the club’s need to strengthen the position.
