Simba SC have successfully secured the signing of attacking midfielder Bakari Msimu from Coastal Union, with reports indicating that the player has agreed to a two-year contract with the Msimbazi-based club.
Msimu joins Simba on a free transfer after reaching the end of his contract with Coastal Union at the conclusion of the current season.
It is understood that Coastal Union had previously reached an agreement with the player over a new long-term contract, hoping to retain him and potentially benefit from a future transfer fee should another club express interest.
However, once Simba's offer arrived, Msimu reportedly wasted little time in making his decision and signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2028.
Simba are believed to have acted cautiously following last season's experience involving Lameck Lawi. The club had completed the process of signing the player, but Coastal Union later returned the transfer funds after receiving an overseas offer and claimed Simba had not followed the agreed transfer procedures.
Msimu becomes Simba's fourth domestic signing ahead of the upcoming major transfer window. The club has also added Kelvin Nashon, Nathaniel Chilambo, and Ramadhan Chobwedo as it continues to strengthen its squad for the new season.
