Simba SC are reportedly back in negotiations to sign Azam FC attacking midfielder Feisal Salum, popularly known as βFei Toto.β
This time, the move could have a greater chance of succeeding, as the player himself is said to be open to leaving the Chamazi-based club.
Although Feisal still has one year remaining on his contract with Azam FC, reports suggest he wants to move to a club that regularly competes for major trophies and offers the opportunity to play in the CAF Champions League next season.
At the moment, Simba appear to be the club best positioned to help him achieve that ambition. Azam FC have reportedly fallen behind in the title race and may require exceptional results to finish in the top two places that would secure qualification for the CAF Champions League.
Simba made a strong attempt to sign Feisal during the previous transfer window, but the deal collapsed at the final stage after Azam FC convinced the midfielder to stay by offering him improved terms and extending his contract by an additional year.
Sources indicate that Simba's honorary president, businessman Mohamed Dewji, popularly known as βMo,β has now taken a personal interest in the transfer and is determined to see Feisal Salum wearing Simba colours next season.
If the move materialises, it would be one of the most significant transfers in Tanzanian football, given Feisal's status as one of the country's most influential midfielders and his consistent performances for both club and country.
