Simba SC captain Shomari Kapombe has called on the club’s fans to turn up in large numbers for the remaining matches of the season, stressing the importance of collective support in securing maximum points.
Kapombe said the team’s target is to win all five remaining league matches, believing that anything can still happen in the title race.
After missing out on the league title for four consecutive seasons, Kapombe noted that there is strong determination within the squad to finally reclaim the crown, even though they currently trail rivals Yanga by two points.
“We do not want a repeat of last season, where we lost the title on the final day against Yanga. That hurt everyone, and I know the fans are tired of being teased by our rivals. All I can say is they should show up for every match so that we can collect all 15 points together,” he said.
“We are aware that we are two points behind Yanga, but that should not add pressure. What we need is to keep working hard. If we win all our matches, that pressure disappears regardless of what our opponents do,” he added.
Simba’s next fixture after the FIFA international break will be against Pamba Jiji on Sunday, June 14 at KMC Complex.
They will then travel to Mbeya to face Mbeya City on June 17 at the Sokoine Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 pm.
The remaining fixtures include matches against Mtibwa Sugar (away), Singida Black Stars (home), and KMC (home).
Simba are also in the semi-finals of the CRDB Cup, where they will face Coastal Union on June 20 at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.
