Kenya international Mohammed Bajaber produced a brilliant performance, scoring two goals and providing an assist as Harambee Stars cruised to a convincing 4-0 victory over Lesotho in an international friendly at Lucas Moripe Stadium in South Africa.
After being held to a 1-1 draw by Lesotho in the first friendly match last week, Kenya head coach Benni McCarthy made several changes to his lineup and was rewarded with one of the team's most impressive performances of the FIFA international window.
Bajaber, who plays for Simba SC, made an immediate impact by opening the scoring in the eighth minute after finishing a pass from Micah Obiero. Kenya controlled much of the match, while Lesotho struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, with goalkeeper Brian Bwire making several important saves.
Harambee Stars continued their dominance after the break. In the 52nd minute, Bajaber doubled Kenya's lead after being set up by Austin Odhiambo. Shortly afterward, Lesotho's task became even more difficult when defender Sekhoane Moerane was shown a red card.
McCarthy's substitutions also paid off, as Lawrence Ouma came off the bench to score twice in quick succession in the 84th and 88th minutes. The final goal was created by Bajaber, who ended the match directly involved in three of Kenya's four goals.
With another outstanding display, Bajaber has continued to establish himself as one of Kenya's most influential players. The Simba SC forward showcased his finishing ability, creativity, and attacking leadership throughout the FIFA break.
His performance will undoubtedly send a strong message to Simba's coaching staff that he is ready to return and play a key role for the Msimbazi Reds as they prepare for the crucial final stages of the season.
