Simba Board Weighs Options on Location of New Stadium

Simba SC Board of Directors Chairman Crescentius Magori says the club has received different views from members and stakeholders regarding the most suitable location for its proposed stadium.

Simba owns land in Bunju, on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam, where it already has training grounds. The initial plan was to build a large stadium at the site to host competitive matches.

However, concerns over the location—particularly its distance from the city center—have led to mixed opinions. Some stakeholders believe the stadium should be built in a more accessible area, while Bunju could remain as the club’s training base.

Magori said the Board will carefully review all opinions and come up with recommendations that will guide the direction of the stadium project, which remains a major ambition for Simba fans.

He also clarified that there is currently no active stadium construction project at Bunju beyond routine maintenance and minor upgrades.

“There are different ideas about the use of Bunju. If we build a stadium there, will people easily reach it? Some Simba fans live in Mbagala; the distance to Bunju is quite far. Will they be able to travel there? These views will be discussed by the Board before a decision is made,” he said.

“The Board will analyze everything and make a final decision on where the new stadium should be built, taking into account the health and interests of fans and the club. When the time comes, we will announce everything,” he added.

“We have not received any information that someone is planning to build a stadium at Bunju. There are ongoing improvements there. The Board will meet to decide because there are different opinions,” Magori explained.

Meanwhile, following rival club Yanga being allocated land in Kigamboni and also receiving additional space in Jangwani, reports indicate that Simba has also requested government allocation of land for the construction of a dedicated stadium for its official matches.
