Simba SC have reportedly begun early plans to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, with Vipers SC attacking midfielder Abdulkarim Watambala emerging as one of the key names on their transfer radar.
The Tanzanian giants are currently locked in a tight Premier League title race with rivals Yanga SC, trailing by just two points with five matches remaining for both sides. Club officials are now said to be focusing on reinforcing the squad to ensure a stronger campaign next season.
Simba SC are closely monitoring Watambala, who enjoyed an outstanding 2025β2026 season in the Uganda Premier League and was named the leagueβs Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Watambala played a crucial role in Vipers SCβs title-winning campaign, helping them finish top of the table with 67 points after 19 wins, 10 draws, and just one defeat.
Individually, the midfielder contributed directly to 16 goals, scoring 12 and providing 4 assists in 28 appearances out of 30 matches played throughout the season.
He won the MVP award ahead of other standout performers including Frank Ssebufu, Raymond Barasa Mangoli of SC Villa, Ivan Ahimbisibwe of KCCA, and Ambrose Kigozi of Entebbe UPPC.
