Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has praised his players following their 1–0 victory over Dodoma Jiji in an NBC Premier League match played yesterday at KMC Complex.
Speaking after the match, Barker explained that the game was difficult largely because of the demanding fixture schedule.
He stated that the most important thing for the team was securing the three points, which moved Simba back to the top of the league standings.
“It was not an easy match. I congratulate the players for the effort and energy they showed in this game, and we managed to get the victory.”
“In just 52 days we have played 16 matches. This is a very difficult schedule, and I think we need to pay attention to the players’ health.”
“We are thankful that after this match there will be a FIFA international break. We will have time to reorganize ourselves before returning to complete the remaining matches,” said Barker.
Simba’s only goal in the match was scored by Elie Mpanzu, who reacted quickest to a rebound after Dodoma Jiji’s goalkeeper saved a penalty taken by Clatous Chama.
The victory lifted Simba to 58 points and returned them to the top of the league table.
