Simba have officially moved to the top of the league standings following a 2-1 victory over Coastal Union in a match played at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga.
The Msimbazi Reds were forced to come from behind to secure the important win, which could prove crucial in their pursuit of the Premier League title this season.
Maabad Maulid gave Coastal Union the lead in the 8th minute, but Libasse Gueye equalized for Simba in the 37th minute with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area after receiving a pass from Clatous Chama.
It was Chama again who created Simbaโs second goal, delivering a corner kick that Anicet Oura headed into the net.
Simba went into halftime leading 2-1, and after the break the Msimbazi Reds returned with intensity as they searched for more goals.
โSuper Subโ Suleiman Mwalimu will likely regret not scoring today after missing several clear chances during the match.
The victory takes Simba to 55 points and moves them above Yanga at the top of the league table. Simba have, however, played one match more than Yanga, who will face Singida Black Stars tomorrow.
Clatous Chama continued his impressive run by winning the Man of the Match award for the fifth consecutive game.
