As questions continue to grow regarding the future of midfielder Mohamed Bajaber, Simba head coach Steve Barker has revealed that the player remains part of his plans for next season, although certain issues will determine his future at the club.
After spending a long period out due to injuries and being removed from Simba’s squad registration for competitions organized under the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), Bajaber returned to action on April 22, 2026, when he traveled with the team to Zanzibar for the 2026 Muungano Cup. He helped Simba win the tournament and featured in several matches, including the final against Yanga.
Bajaber recently returned to the pitch after struggling with a series of injuries that had kept him sidelined for much of the season since joining Simba at the beginning of the campaign.
The Kenyan midfielder had been removed from the competition registration system because of a thigh injury, but Barker recalled him for the Muungano Cup in Zanzibar in order to assess his recovery and progress.
Barker made it clear that he would like to see Bajaber continue with Simba next season, but only if the player can prove his physical fitness after his recurring injury problems.
“Bajaber is a very good player and everyone knows that. I want to see him continue playing for Simba next season, but the issue is recovering from the injuries that kept him out this season.”
“The main thing I am closely monitoring is his fitness, especially regarding injuries. If it is confirmed that he is fully fit, then there will be no obstacle to him returning to Simba next season,” Barker was quoted as saying by Mwanaspoti.
