Simba SC head coach Steve Barker says his team will continue applying pressure in the title race following an important 3-0 victory over Mashujaa FC in a Tanzania Mainland Premier League match played at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma.
Speaking after the match, Barker praised his players for the win, stressing that it was not an easy game due to the challenging conditions.
"This is an important win for us that sends a message of determination to keep fighting and winning every match in order to maintain pressure in the title race."
"It was not an easy game against a good team. We started well, controlled the match, and scored an early goal. But the game was not finished until we scored the third goal,"
"I congratulate my players; everyone fought hard to ensure we got this important result," said Barker.
Following the win, Simba have reduced the gap to league leaders Young Africans SC (Yanga) to just two points, with each team now having seven matches remaining.
Simba have now shifted their focus to the CRDB Cup, where they are scheduled to face TRA United on Sunday at KMC Complex.
The squad is expected to return to Dar es Salaam today to complete final preparations for the upcoming fixture.
