Simba head coach Steve Barker has expressed his satisfaction with the performance displayed by his team during their 4-0 Premier League victory over Tanzania Prisons at KMC Complex.
The match marked Simba’s first game at KMC Complex since relocating from Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, which had previously served as their home venue.
Speaking after the match, Barker said the quality of the KMC Complex pitch allowed his players to execute their game plan effectively, adding that the squad now understands his tactical approach much better.
“We played on a very good pitch that was smooth and not too bumpy, and that helped us a lot. We started the match very well, controlled the game, and played with great intensity,” said Barker.
“The goals we scored were fully deserved because of the way we played. We dominated the game and made it difficult for our opponents to create chances against us,” he added.
The coach also admitted that although the team wanted to score even more goals, they had to carefully manage the game because of the demanding fixture schedule ahead.
“Sometimes you want to score six goals or more, but you also have to know how to manage the game and avoid using too much energy. We still have five matches to play within the next 14 or 15 days, so we needed to be careful,” Barker explained.
Following the match, Simba are set to travel to Kigoma where they will face Mashujaa FC on Thursday at Lake Tanganyika Stadium before returning to Dar es Salaam for their CRDB Federation Cup quarterfinal clash against TRA United scheduled for May 17.
