Simba striker Suleiman Mwalimu says he is very happy to be serving the Msimbazi Reds and will continue fulfilling his responsibilities in helping the team achieve its goals.
Mwalimu scored his seventh NBC Premier League goal of the season yesterday in Simba’s 4-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons at KMC Complex.
The young striker, however, could have added to his tally after missing a penalty early in the first half.
The 20-year-old forward is currently on loan at Simba from Moroccan club Wydad AC, with his loan deal set to expire at the end of the season.
Reports suggest that Simba have already begun efforts to extend his stay for another season, while the player himself has expressed satisfaction and openness to remaining at the club.
Despite his young age, Mwalimu has shown maturity and confidence, saying his experience at Wydad has helped him improve, including featuring in the FIFA Club World Cup last season.
He added that he is not currently thinking about his future, as his focus remains on helping the team, with decisions to be made at the end of the season.
“Personally, I have no pressure because there are many things I learned while at Wydad Casablanca, including getting a chance to play in the FIFA Club World Cup last season,”
“I am happy to be here and my focus is to perform well for Simba. What will happen in the future is something to be decided at the end of the season; for now, my focus is helping the team,” he said.
“We have done a good job in Zanzibar by winning the Union Cup, and now our focus is on the Mainland Premier League,” Mwalimu added.
