Simba SC winger Anicet Oura missed the recent Premier League clash against Yanga, played on Sunday, May 03 at Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium.
It can be said that Ouraβs absence may have given Yanga some relief in a match where Simba led for most of the 90 minutes before their rivals came back to level the game, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Oura picked up an injury during the Muungano Cup final, where he only played for about 20 minutes before being replaced by Elie Mpanzu.
Heading into the league match against Yanga, reports indicated that Oura and other players who had been injured in Zanzibar were expected to return to the squad for the derby.
However, Oura was ultimately left out of the matchday squad. After the game, Simba head coach Steve Barker explained the reason for his omission.
Barker said Oura did not suffer a serious injury, but the decision was made to rest him in order to prevent aggravating the issue in such a high-pressure match.
Barker also confirmed that Oura is expected to return to the squad in upcoming fixtures, starting with the match against JKT Tanzania tomorrow.
