Simba head coach Steve Barker has said the 2-2 draw against Yanga in the NBC Premier League match at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium was not the result they wanted, but insists the team will keep fighting in the remaining fixtures.
Speaking after the match, Barker admitted his side had a strong chance to win, especially after taking an early two-goal lead, but losing focus and reducing their intensity allowed their opponents back into the game.
"We were not happy with the result because we knew we needed to win to keep pressure in the title race."
"We started the game well and managed to score two quick goals. We dropped our intensity after scoring the second."
"I think we should have maintained the pressure we started with. When they scored their first goal, they gained confidence while we were playing with less intensity."
"In the second half, after they scored the equalizer, the game became more open. Both teams were dangerous on the counterattack—they had chances, and we had chances too."
