After reaching the Muungano Cup final with a dominant 3-0 victory over Mlandege FC, Simba’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ali, has confidently stated that they now have the chance to avenge past results against their arch-rivals Yanga in the upcoming matches.
Simba and Yanga are set for an intense 180 minutes of football, starting with the Muungano Cup final on April 29 at the New Amaan Complex, before meeting again on May 3 in a Premier League clash at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
Ahmed revealed that while Yanga were facing Azam FC in the semi-final, Simba surprisingly found themselves hoping their rivals would win in order to set up a final showdown.
“We love playing big matches and we are really eager for the game on the 29th. We even prayed for Yanga to beat Azam FC, and when it happened, we celebrated,” Ahmed boasted.
Playing attractive football, Simba completely outclassed Mlandege FC in the semi-final to secure their place in the final in convincing fashion.
After missing out on victory in their previous encounter against Yanga in Zanzibar—partly blamed on refereeing decisions—Simba now have the opportunity to finish what they started by winning the Muungano Cup and also securing victory in the league match on May 3.
