Simba SC have emphatically reached the Muungano Cup final after a dominant 3-0 victory over Mlandege FC in the semi-final played at the New Amaan Complex.
Despite making several changes to the lineup and resting key first-team players, Simba controlled the match from the opening minutes. They arguably deserved to go into halftime with a lead, but Elie Mpanzu, who played as a shadow striker in the first half, missed several chances.
In the second half, coach Steve Barker made crucial substitutions, bringing on Yusuph Kagoma, Suleiman Mwalimu, Anicet Oura, and Clatous Chama—changes that made a significant impact.
Mwalimu opened the scoring in the 63rd minute, finishing off a pass from Chama, who had skillfully beaten Mlandege’s defenders and goalkeeper.
In the 72nd minute, Oura added the second goal, once again assisted by Chama, who dominated the midfield alongside Kagoma and Neo Maema.
The third goal came in the dying minutes, with Maema scoring in style from just outside the box with a powerful strike.
Maema was named Man of the Match after an outstanding performance throughout the full 90 minutes.
The victory secures Simba a place in the final, where they will face their traditional rivals Yanga on April 29.
It is now confirmed that within one week, fans will witness two Kariakoo Derby matches, as the two sides are also set to meet again on May 3 in a league match at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
