Simba SC will take to the pitch today, Sunday, at the New Amaan Complex to face Mlandege FC in the Muungano Cup semi-final.
It is a crucial 90 minutes for the “Wekundu wa Msimbazi,” as a victory will guarantee them a place in the final.
Yesterday, Simba head coach Steve Barker was at the New Amaan Complex to watch the first semi-final between Azam FC and Young Africans (Yanga).
His presence was clearly part of preparations for the next match, with expectations of potentially meeting one of those teams in the final.
Yanga were the first team to qualify for the final after defeating Azam FC 2-1. A win for Simba today would set up a highly anticipated Kariakoo Derby final.
Such a scenario would also mean Simba and Yanga would meet twice within a week, as the two rivals are scheduled to face each other again on May 3 in a Premier League match at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
That would be an opportunity for Simba to seek revenge against Yanga after narrowly missing out in their first league encounter, which they felt was affected by refereeing decisions.
