Despite a disappointing campaign in the CAF Champions League this season, where they exited at the group stage, Simba SC have continued to carry Tanzania’s flag strongly by remaining among Africa’s top 10 clubs.
After finishing fourth in Group D of the Champions League, many expected Simba to drop further in the CAF rankings and possibly fall out of the top 10, but that was not the case.
In the latest rankings released after the completion of the CAF Champions League semi-finals and Confederation Cup matches, Simba SC are placed 10th, down from 6th position in the previous season.
The Tanzanian giants have accumulated 38 points, level with CR Belouizdad. Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns have climbed to the top of the rankings, pushing Al Ahly down to second place.
Sundowns are set to face AS FAR of Morocco in this season’s CAF Champions League final.
Other clubs such as Al Hilal, USM Alger, and AS FAR have moved up into the top 10 after strong performances in CAF competitions this season.
