Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has revealed that he will continue rotating his squad to cope with a demanding fixture schedule and maintain competitiveness in both the NBC Premier League and the CRDB Cup.
Since April 2, Simba have played five matches and are set to face Namungo FC on Sunday, April 19, before traveling to Zanzibar for the Muungano Cup.
Barker explained that using the entire squad is essential to maintaining performance levels, especially with the risk of fatigue and injuries for players who feature regularly.
βThe season is tough as you can see. You cannot win the title using just the same starting eleven all the time. You risk injuries or a drop in performance due to fatigue, especially with matches coming so close together,β said Barker.
βWe need to give opportunities to different players. We have a good squad, and itβs important for them to be ready and compete for places. There are many competitions, and those who are prepared will get their chance to represent the club.β
βYou could see we made changes and still performed very well in the last match (against Fountain Gate), showing great quality. Now we are preparing for another away match against Namungo before heading into other competitions,β he added.
Simba SC are expected to travel to Lindi as they prepare to face Namungo FC on Sunday at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa.
