Simba SC Board Chairman Crescentius Magori has dismissed circulating reports about attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu, who has missed the club’s last two Premier League matches.
Magori explained that Mpanzu was ill but has since recovered and traveled with the team to Arusha, adding that he could return for the CRDB Cup match against Dodoma Jiji.
“Mpanzu’s current contract runs until September, so claims that he is refusing to play over demands for a new deal are very strange.”
“He is one of the most disciplined players and was very disappointed to miss the Azam match. Those rumors have no basis. He was sick but is now improving and has traveled with the team to Arusha.”
“I’m not sure about the April 9 match, but possibly he could return starting from April 12,” said Magori.
Magori also addressed speculation surrounding midfielder Inno Loemba, dismissing claims that the player is not being selected due to internal disagreements among club officials over his signing.
“First of all, Loemba was not brought in by JayRutty. He was identified by the recruitment committee in collaboration with the coach. JayRutty’s agreement allows him to sponsor the signing of one player, which is why he covered the transfer costs.”
“When Mohammed (Dewji) signs players, does that mean those players belong to him? JayRutty’s contract allows him to sponsor one player each year, so expect another signing next season as well.”
“Loemba had been injured since the Singida match and only resumed training recently. He was on the bench against Azam but did not play because the coach felt the current lineup was performing well and did not want to take risks,” he added.
