Simba’s Head of Information and Communications, Ahmed Ali, has said the draw against Azam FC was not the result they wanted, but they have accepted the point and will regroup to perform better in upcoming matches.
Speaking after the match at Azam Complex, Ahmed stated that Simba could have secured a win if they had made better use of their chances and if referees had applied the Laws of the Game correctly.
"We witnessed one of the truly high-quality matches of the NBC Premier League. Despite everything, Azam FC were at their best, but we were even better."
"If we had capitalized on every chance we created, we had the ability to get a good result today."
"Looking at the match, in the fourth minute of the first half we had a chance to take the lead, but the quality of Azam FC’s goalkeeper denied our striker Suleiman Mwalimu."
"We continued attacking but failed to convert the chances we created. Overall, there is no one to blame—it is a fair result for both teams."
"However, it is a result that hurts us because we strongly believe we deserved to win. If fairness had been fully applied and every incident interpreted according to the rules, Simba would have won today based on those situations," said Ahmed.
Despite the result, Ahmed emphasized that Simba will continue fighting to achieve their main objective this season, which is winning the league title.
"The league is still long. Getting a draw against Azam FC is something you accept because they are one of the teams that can disrupt your plans."
"We still have around 13 matches ahead, so we have a great opportunity to regroup and perform well. We admit that this season Azam FC have been better than us—they have taken four points from us while we have taken one. The fight continues," Ahmed added.
